DOING MY NAILS IS PRACTICING SELFCARE

Hi nail lovers, I hope everyone is having a Manicure Monday! Don’t feel guilty if you want to spend your last money to do your nails! Nails are selfcare and they bring out the inner goddess in you! On today’s blog post I want us to talk about how nails are the best selfcare method for you!

Yesterday My best friend sent me this photo and it made me laugh because I think we can all relate to the post! I feel like my fingers are very fat and short until I have long acrylics on. I am not going to lie to you guys, as much as long acrylics are not practical, I just love the clicking sound of long acrylic nails against my phone screen and my keyboard on my laptop. I love how one especially starts to use their hands to speak when their nails are done and as a nail tech nothing gives me more joy than to see how my clients attitude changes after their nails are done. Today’s post was meant to be dedicated to Nomcebo Gubevu’s Interview because we have already dropped a video of her doing my birthday set but as I was typing while listening to goddess affirmations podcasts, I thought how great it would be to unpack how nails are a very huge part of selfcare!

The word selfcare has been buzzing these past years, and I tried to find a definition that can simplify for people who might not know the term and I realized that it comes in many definitions to different authorities. So, what is selfcare then? Selfcare is whatever you want it to be for you and for me is taking care of myself physically (working out, eating healthy, beauty treatments, shopping), emotionally and mentally (dating myself, healthy relationships, listening to affirmations, journaling, taking time away to be with self, listening to music, solo dates, reading a book). These are some of the examples that I would define as selfcare for me, anything that gives you joy is selfcare!

DearSundays.com wrote an article about How to Turn Nail Care into Self Care and how you can be mindful while doing your nails like listening to affirmations and lighting a candle, so nailcare can actually release happy emotions. Growing up, Sundays was dedicated to my selfcare and I took it seriously from painting my hands and toes with nail polish and wearing my homemade masks. Selfcare doesn’t have to be expensive at all, just loving up on yourself is selfcare enough. These days selfcare means getting my long acrylic nails done, it gives me confidence and attitude, it’s like my alter ego gets released and I just don’t see myself without.

Cosmopolitans wrote an article on the 24th of May 2016, about why you shouldn’t feel guilty about treating yourself to a manicure and we feel the same, gone are those days when nails were meant to be worn for special occasions, if long nails make you feel like a goddess and your higher self, don’t feel guilty about wearing long acrylics, you are not shallow. You can be smart, be a homemaker, be a 9-5 girl and wear long acrylics. If you need to spend that last coin to boost your confidence, go for it! You need to feel good to do good!!
